My brief goodbye

This is my last blog as I find the writing tedious and I am growing board of it. My last three blogs have now become a new Hobbs classics. Not only are they insightful and most obviously all knowing, but they share what the meaning of the topics are clearly. So as I conclude humans are born with one right, to protect yourself by any means, and that no matter who you are you can only truly trust yourself. Most after reading my fine work would imminently peg me as a pessimist, but what I say is simply the truth. When it comes down to it we can conclude that people only watch out for themselves and thats how it is. That is my last word on the matter farewell to you all.

Explinations of Inquiries

"Philosophies of leadership are determined by beliefs about human nature."
This quote is one of three that I will be explaining to you. First I will translate what this means into words that may be understood today. What each individual person thinks about leadership comes from what they believe about human nature. We all have our own views even if some are the same; we will have varying differences somewhere in our beliefs. I am now going to break down what I said above by its different pieces. A leader will determine his/her own philosophies, now I will show you the second part. These philosophies are created based on the beliefs of human nature. So what I have just told you I will now explain. If a leader believes that human nature is civilized then his leadership will lead to a civil way of leading. Now I agree that this statement is true, but most people will think that leaders will always lead fairly and with the people’s interest at heart. But the reality is leaders always lead people with their own self gain in mind, they are always calculating the best move for themselves.

"The governed have a responsibility for their governance."
This quote is saying that the people have a responsibility to do something about the way they are ruled, for example if there are three people and one person is the “ruler” per say and the two are the governed and they don’t like the way they are being ruled it is there duty to do something about  that. I Hobbs think that this quote should be ripped up and thrown away. The people have no right to do something about how they are being ruled because they chose to let another party come and take control so that they would not have to fight each other. People simply can’t just say I don’t like how you… and everything changes, that’s not how it’s done. The people are ruled and they have no say in how they are being ruled.

"Human Nature does not determine our actions,: it inclines us towards certain actions."
This quote is telling us that human nature does not decide what we do it just gives us a little push to do something. So say someone is deciding if they should steal something from a store there human nature will push them to do it, but they may do the opposite of their nature is telling them to do. This is a true statement because the person would analyze exactly what could be gained by doing something and what could be lost by doing it. Self gain and interest are part of what we do and how we decide to do things.

The Lost boys of Sudan

I believe that what the lost boys went through was a special case. It was an abnormal experience not to say it could not happen, but the chances of something like this happening again are very slim. These boys found a fake since of kin ship because they had all been run out of there home. They made bonds off of what they thought and how they grew up. Not to say that my theories didn't play at all, many of the boys who started the walk never made it to the end because the others could not help the weak ones. But I think that this was a strange occurrence and that it is not something that could happen easily again.

Lord of the Flies Hobbs

After reading the book Lord of the Flies I thought that the book was a fairly acurate telling. But i think the ending of the book could be revised a bit better. I believe that the author should have made the boys stay on the island and while most of the island was burning have seperated, like the fire was destroying the island there bonds would be completly destroyed and they would finally be in the most natural state, where you have only the right to protect yourself. Then i supposed they could have been saved and it would have shown that they were all just looking out for themselves and that each only wanted himslef to be safer than the next kid.

Thesis statement

I Hobbs believe that the book The Lord of the Flies shows a true representation of human nature in a place that has no civil rules.

Humans and How They Work

I Thomas Hobbes will explain to you how human nature works, how we tick and what motivates us. I believe that every living thing obeys laws of individual survival. All humans are motivated by self-interest and the quest for power. Altruism can not exist in the world, because it is not possible for it to exist. Of the voluntary acts of every man, the object is some good to himself. The state of nature is dominated by scarcity and fear where everyone is enemy to everyone else and life is short, solitary, poor, and nasty. There is only one natural right for all people and that is the right to protect yourself using any means available to you. The only way for people to live without fear of being killed by one another is to bring in a third party. This is called the social contract, where the first two parties give complete control to the third part and give up there right to violence, and the third party becomes the source of all authority. This could be called a monarch or parliament, but no matter what you call it it is the third party that has all control over the other parties to make sure they keep there agreement. The government should be ever present and controlling with there authority as was agreed upon by the other parties. If you believe that my view is pessimistic then by all means go ahead and believe that, but we all know that sometimes people have trouble accepting the truth. Take the example of what is happening around the building of the Islamic center near the site where the twin towers fell. People are concerned only about themselves, blaming the Islamic community for the destruction of the towers and then wanting to desecrate the place where the towers use to stand. They have a fear that if they allow the Islamic people to come and practice in the area that they will begin to slowly take over and attack the beliefs of what we have here. Next i will use the example of the infamous Scar from the lion king. This selfish lion shows just how we hunger for power and the only right we have is to protect ourselves. When he blames the hyenas for the problems when he has his power taken away and then turns around and tries to tell the hyenas that he was always an ally to them. This shows that he was trying to save himself and not even care about who else got hurt. Lastly I would like to use the book the Hunger Games as my last example. This book show the natural right we hold as human to protect ourselves. By putting these kids through the games and telling them there are no rules, this gives us the true example of what i am trying to show. We are savegase in nature and that we will stay alive and not trust anyone with our lives because we know that we can not trust others because of human nature.
